Specialist Plant Loader and Securer Training Courses

This course is designed for people who require a formal qualification in loading and unloading plant machinery. Our instructors will work with whatever plant is available onsite, but must see a variety, including at least one tracked and one wheeled machine.

This allows our training courses to be perfectly tailored to the equipment the delegates are using onsite and their day to day working activities. It also minimises downtime and travel costs for the trainees.

Plant Loader Securer Training Course Content

Duration: 1-2 days (dependent on experience)

Maximum delegates: 3 novice, 6 experienced.

Awarding body: NPORS

On successful completion of a plant loader securer course delegates will:

  • have a basic understanding of the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operative
  • have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
  • be able to identify different types of transport
  • conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
  • conduct necessary safety checks in the loading/unloading area
  • ensure the transporter is correctly configured in readiness for loading and unloading
  • explain hazards that may exist in the work area and how to avoid them, e.g. underground services, overhead power lines etc.
  • agree a method of communication and use it
  • load or direct items of plant onto and off transporting vehicle
  • arrange and secure items of plant on transport vehicle ready for transport on the public highway
  • carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
