Our Felling Large Trees over 380mm (15″) course will provide you with the appropriate techniques and safety guidelines to ensure that you are not only confident when using a chainsaw but also aware of relevant health and safety guidelines ensuring that you stay protected.

Who should take this course?

This course is suitable for anyone who is required to operate chainsaws to fell trees larger than the guide bar length.

Prerequisites:

Candidates must have successfully completed Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting (Units 201 and 202) and Felling Small Trees (Unit 203) 

Awarding Bodies

Successful completion of course and assessment will result in NPTC Level 3 Award 301 (**Previously known as CS32**)

This is a 3 day Lantra Awards training course followed by independent NPTC assessment on a separate day.

Assessment takes place on a 1:1 basis with an NPTC assessor.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Assess your knowledge and understanding across a range of forestry and arboriculture functions and activities
  • Assess your ability to work effectively in a forestry and arboriculture environment, both independently and as part of a team
  • Assess your ability to review and develop their own practices and carry out a range of practical forestry and arboriculture tasks, to the required industry standard
  • Improve awareness of health and safety legislation and how individuals can contribute to the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) agenda.
